Hubei develops spectral imaging technology to implement vehicle pollutant imaging monitoring

[ China Instrument Network Instrument R&D ] With the rapid development of economy and the advancement of urbanization, the rapid development of the transportation industry and the growing number of motor vehicles have brought about a lot of pollution problems, which has seriously affected the air quality.

In order to improve the quality of the environment, China has also successively introduced a number of policies to carry out the pollution emission work of motor vehicles. However, motor vehicles are widely distributed and have strong mobility, and the discharged pollutants have the characteristics of intangible shadows, non-uniformity, and rapid changes. Exhaust pollutant monitoring has become a long-term unsolved environmental regulatory problem.
The vehicle exhaust gas remote sensing monitoring technology has thus developed. It emerged in the United States in the late 1980s and has been widely used in North America, Europe, East Asia and other countries and regions, such as high-emission vehicle identification, clean vehicle exemption, I/M project assessment, fleet emission characteristics investigation, The establishment of motor vehicle emission lists and the restriction of high-emission vehicles during transit are mainly carried out by means of vehicle-mounted remote sensing monitoring and fixed-type remote sensing monitoring.
China's "In-use Vehicle Exhaust Detection Code" clearly stipulates that areas with conditions can use remote sensing measurements to monitor pollutant emissions on road-operated vehicles. In Tangshan City, Hebei Province, the monitoring department has used a vehicle remote sensing vehicle to measure pollutants such as CO, CO2, NO, HC, and exhaust fumes in the vehicle quickly and accurately using methods such as ultraviolet, infrared, and green light detection.
With the continuous advancement of technology and the urgency of environmental protection, many agencies are constantly innovating ways to monitor vehicle pollutants. Recently, the research group of the Wuhan Institute of Quantity and Statistics, Li Faquan used a self-developed gas molecular spectroscopic imaging technology to propose a new remote sensing monitoring program for pollutant emission of motor vehicles and realized imaging monitoring of pollutants.
Researchers at Wuhan Institute of Materials Science and Technology have combined molecular filter imaging technology with infrared imaging technology to create a new imaging monitoring method. The molecular filter is a filter device that matches with the molecular characteristic spectrum, and has high spectral resolution and high optical stability. Through the combination of infrared imaging technology, on-line and rapid remote sensing monitoring can be carried out on a running motor vehicle, which has the advantages of small data dispersion, strong resistance to environmental interference, and high accuracy of exceeding the standard, and can provide image evidence of excessive emissions. .
The research work was funded by the National Ministry of Science and Technology's key R&D program and the National Youth Fund.
