CAP1400's first DN450 burst valve tested successfully

[China Instrument Network Instrument R&D] On November 22, the DN450 burst valve used in the CAP1400 demonstration project successfully completed the hot start test. This test marks the successful passage of the CAP series blasting valves and the successful completion of the autonomous development.

The experiment was carried out on the comprehensive test bench of the National Institute of Electric Power Investment Central Research Institute. The prototype of the blast valve was jointly developed by Shanghai Nuclear Industry Institute and Dalian Dagao and Sichuan Haitian. During the test, the shear cover quickly cuts and opens the valve to meet the test requirements.
The blast valve is the key equipment for implementing safety functions in passive nuclear power plants. It is used in reactor coolant systems and passive core cooling systems. It guarantees zero leakage during normal operation of nuclear power plants and opens quickly and reliably under accident conditions. The device is triggered by an electric signal to trigger a quick-open valve. After receiving the ignition command signal, the igniter detonates the cartridge driving device to generate high-pressure gas to break the tension bolt that pulls the piston, thereby promoting the acceleration of the piston. Impact cut shear cover to fully open the valve to provide the flow path required by the system. The blast valve adopts a simple structure design concept. It is mainly composed of two parts: the cartridge driving device and the valve body. Compared with the conventional valve, the structure of the blasting valve is more compact, and has advantages of good flowability, excellent sealing performance and high opening reliability.
The self-development of the CAP series blasting valves has gone through stages such as research of prototypes, research of engineering prototypes, manufacturing of prototypes and verification of engineering prototypes, and identification of engineering prototypes. All of them are controlled according to the strictest system.
CAP series blasting valves have successively passed through a series of harsh test assessments such as EMC, thermal aging, thermal cycling, irradiation aging, mechanical aging, vibration aging, earthquake simulation, LOCA accident simulation, and flooding test of cartridge driving devices, and valves. The machine's sealing performance, natural frequency identification, flooding identification, hot start and flow test and other assessments.
The successful CAP1400 first DN450 blasting valve was completely independently developed by China and has complete independent intellectual property rights. It has broken through a number of key design, manufacturing, testing, and appraisal technologies to meet future domestic development and the need for nuclear power to go out.
