Chicago 2-11 Alarm fire, 12-10-14 (history)

This message comes from Bill Friedrich:

Before Engine 104’s station was closed, these were the last fire companies that operated out of there 24/7. Michigan Avenue wasn’t a very busy street on weekends. After the station shut down, Engine 104 was reassigned to Engine 1’s location, and 4-2-4 was moved to Engine 26’s house. It was a sad day for this historic fire station, which had served the community for many years.

This is a personal reflection from someone who lived through the changes in the Chicago Fire Department. These photos and stories help preserve the history of the city and its firefighting legacy. It's always interesting to see how places evolve over time, and this fire station was no exception. The memories and images shared by Bill Friedrich are a valuable part of that history.
