China's marine high-tech development has taken a new step

After more than half a century of development, China has formed a marine high-tech system with more than 20 technical fields, including marine environmental technology, resource exploration and development technology, and marine general engineering technology. Especially in recent years, with the support of the National 863 Program, the 973 Program, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the Science and Technology Research Program, marine science and technology have made breakthroughs and shortened the gap with advanced marine technology countries.

In terms of marine monitoring technology, China launched the first marine satellite, which captured key technologies such as acoustic sea current profile measurement, high-precision CTD profile measurement, high-frequency ground wave radar detection, and developed a number of advanced marine drifting buoys. Ocean observation equipment has significantly improved China's marine technology level and the ability of domestic marine instruments and equipment to participate in market competition. In terms of marine biotechnology, we have achieved a number of valuable application results, including the excellence of marine culture germplasm, the development of marine natural products and marine drugs. China's marine shipbuilding technology and container technology have developed rapidly, prompting China to become the world's third largest shipbuilding country.

In terms of ocean exploration and resource development technologies, joint research has been carried out on the core technologies of oil and gas hydrate resource exploration in deep waters and exploration of mineral resources in the ocean. Significant progress has been made, which will certainly be the exploration and development of China's marine oil and gas resources and oceanic minerals. Resource survey evaluation provides strong technical support.

Sun Zhihui, director of the State Oceanic Administration, said that in the future, China will focus on the development of 7,000-meter manned submersibles, vigorously develop the deep-sea exploration technology system, and focus on breaking through the key technologies of seawater desalination to realize the scale utilization of seawater resources as soon as possible.
