In recent years, the growth rate of China's pump industry has not only been higher than foreign countries, but also higher than the growth rate of domestic GDP. Experts estimate that China's annual fixed asset investment rate during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period will not be less than 40%. Petrochemical pump demand is about 3 million units

According to incomplete statistics, in the petroleum and petrochemical plants, due to the great differences in the process of various pump products, the demand varies. The petrochemical industry also has different requirements for the life of various pumps. For example, the average service life of various centrifugal pumps is 10 years; the life of industrial pumps generally requires 15 to 20 years; the life of pumps operating under strong corrosion conditions is not less than 3 to 5 years. According to incomplete statistics, the current domestic pump capacity is 20 million to 30 million units. Assuming that the average service life of all types of pumps is 10 years, it is expected that in addition to the old pump updates during the “11th Five-Year Plan” period, more than 10 million industrial pumps will be required. Among them, about 3 million pumps for petroleum and petrochemical use, with a total value of about 35 to 40 billion yuan.

With the rapid growth of the Chinese pump industry, China has gradually grown into a major country in the international pump manufacturing industry. The localization rate of pumps will increase, and the proportion of pumps exported will also increase rapidly. It is expected that the domestic market share of pump products will increase from the current 85% to around 90% in 2010.

In the oil and petrochemical market, the current localization rate of pumps is 60% to 90%, and the average localization rate is about 75%. By 2010, the pump's localization rate may reach about 80%.

In recent years, many domestic pump plants imported advanced technology from abroad and produced chemical process pumps in accordance with international standards, which greatly improved the technical level of petrochemical pumps. Development of energy-efficient products is imminent

However, there are still many gaps in the domestic pump compared with foreign countries. First, the standardization, serialization, and generalization of the pumps are poor. Each pump manufacturer has its own series, parts are standardized and interchangeably low, and there is a lack of uniform standards. The product specifications and models cannot meet the needs of petrochemical development. The second is poor quality and reliability, mainly due to the lack of domestic varieties of corrosion-resistant materials or improper material selection and processing accuracy. In addition, the seal life of the pump is low and there are few varieties. The life of mechanical seals in foreign countries can generally reach two years or so, and domestic petrochemical pumps have not yet reached this level. Third, the efficiency of the pump is low. Due to the poor hydraulic design of the domestic pump, the machining accuracy is not high, and the pump efficiency is generally 2% to 3% lower than that of foreign countries. Therefore, many chemical process pumps have to be imported from abroad.

In addition, the petrochemical pump is the most energy-consuming equipment, among which the supporting motor also occupies the major components of the pump product. According to statistics, the power of the pump-equipped motors in petroleum, petrochemical, and chemical plants generally accounts for 59%, 50%, and 26% of the total electricity consumption of the company. According to experts' estimates, the average power consumption of pump products in the country accounts for about 20% of the total power generation in the country. Obviously, in the oil and petrochemical industry, the proportion of pump power consumption is higher than the average of other products in the country. Therefore, how to develop a group of highly efficient and energy-efficient petrochemical pumps has become a central goal of the current pump industry.
