Siemens wins 2 PSV orders

Siemens Industries announced on August 11 that it has received a multi-million dollar contract to provide a unique diesel-electric propulsion solution for two platform supply vessels (PSVs). It is reported that the new ship was built by Fincantieri's Bay Shipbuilding, and the ship owner is Tidewater, which is classified as American Bureau of Shipping. The captain is 92.5 meters long and has a width of 19 meters. The speed can exceed 14 knots and is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2012 and the second quarter of 2013.
Siemens' improved equipment mainly includes main generator sets, main propulsion and propulsion motors, switchboards, power management systems and IMAC automation systems with alarm, monitoring and control functions, as well as a complete integrated Siemens FiFi 2 system. Siemens will also be responsible for the design, engineering, commissioning and project management of diesel and automation systems.
