Toshiba Co., Ltd., a Japanese semiconductor giant, announced yesterday that it will officially adopt the technology to produce 矽 substrate LED chips in cooperation with BridgELux of the United States. Toshiba Corporation of Japan is developing white LEDs through GaN-on-Silicon technology, and in cooperation with LED lighting solutions company Bridgelux, in January 2012, it has cooperated to develop a new type of white LED chips.
Bridgelux's crystal and LED chip structure combines Toshiba's semiconductor chip manufacturing and production technology to successfully create a white LED chip with an output of 614mW.
Toshiba will use this achievement as the basis for the production of a large number of white LED lights, and regard this product as the main development area of ​​the next generation. In addition to enhancing the power of white LEDs, the company will also focus on strengthening other parts of the service.
As for LEDinside's current 8-inch factory yield, although it is still not comparable to the sapphire substrate LED epitaxial wafer factory, it has reached the scale of mass production, showing that the speed of both Bridgelux and Toshiba is not bad.
In the early stage of mass production, products for LED backlights and products for lighting will be launched one after another. In the long run, the impact on the sapphire substrate LED remains to be seen, but in terms of LED backlighting, the future production capacity of the 8-inch mass production will be considerable.
