Analysis of Effect of Soil Moisture on Flax Seed Emergence with Quick Soil Moisture Analyzer

The seedlings and seedlings of crop seeds are affected by drought during the sowing process, which means that the relationship between crop emergence and soil moisture environment and the critical value of moisture for drought-resistant emergence has become the premise of stable and high-yield crops in dryland areas. The response of seed emergence to soil moisture is the behavior of seed population. Although the heterogeneity of seed itself, the spatial variability of soil moisture and the antagonistic effect between seeds during seedling emergence, all affect seed emergence from different aspects. The typical process of emergence shows S-curve characteristics. Under artificially cultivated seeds and suitable water conditions, this feature is more pronounced; the curve of emergence number along the time axis is nearly linear from “jumping type”. The change of “increasing type” signifies the existence of adversity stress effect, which can be used as a criterion for judging whether seed emergence is affected by drought.

Soil drought not only reduced the number of flax seed emergence, but also led to wide variation in seedling stage and inter-strain development in flax field populations, thus affecting yield and quality. In view of the drought-resistant seedling emergence and stable yield and high yield of flax, deep exploration of the application of multi-branching habits, such as the redundancy of groups, the addition of anti-drought and water-retaining preparations of single or multi-grained artificial seed, and mechanized water sowing techniques, will promote northern China. The stable production and high yield of flax in the arid regions play an important role. In addition, this study is a fully controlled environment, and there are major differences from the field conditions. The application of water cutoffs at all levels needs to be corrected in production.

According to the determination of soil moisture by a quick soil moisture temperature meter, soil moisture significantly affects flax emergence and seedling emergence. When the soil moisture content is high, it shows a rapid emergence type. When the soil moisture content is low, it is the gradual increase type of the slow emergence characteristics and the S curve type between the two.
