China successfully prepared the longest carbon nanotubes in the world

With the support of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the team of Professor Wei Fei at Tsinghua University successfully prepared single-length carbon nanotubes of more than half a meter and created a new world record. Related articles recently published in the internationally renowned journal "American Chemical Society nano", by the international peer highly praised. The tensile strength per unit mass of carbon nanotubes is 276 times that of steel, and its mechanical properties far exceed those of other materials. Wei Fei team in the manufacturing equipment, preparation process a lot of improvement and innovation, for the first time the growth of per millimeter length of carbon nanotubes catalyst activity probability increased to more than 99.5%, and ultimately prepared a single length of more than half a meter of carbon nanotubes. According to reports, the team is currently sprinting to more than 1 meter of carbon nanotubes, the next step is the hope to be able to produce a length of kilometers and have macro-density of carbon nanotubes.
