· Volkswagen deepens cooperation with Russia Gorky to extend the agreement to 2025

Volkswagen Group said on the 15th that it has extended its cooperation agreement with the Russian automaker GAZ Group until 2025, which will produce Volkswagen and Skoda cars at the Gorky plant. As part of the agreement, Volkswagen will also supply a 2.0-liter diesel engine for the GAZ Group's commercial vehicles.
In another statement, Volkswagen signed a letter of intent with GAZ on the truck and bus department to negotiate long-term commercial cooperation with commercial vehicles.
Volkswagen also said that the two companies are considering establishing strategic partnerships in parts supply and joint assembly, and will review the plans in the next phase. Currently, the GAZ Group has used parts from the Volkswagen Scania and Mann Heavy Trucks divisions to produce buses.
The once prosperous Russian auto market was left in 2015 due to a long-term recession. However, the Volkswagen Group continued to invest and built an engine plant in Kaluga, Russia two years ago.
Volkswagen Truck CEO Andreas Renschler said: "This letter of intent shows our important initiatives in the global strategy and clearly demonstrates our commitment to the Russian market."
