The days of relying on a mobile phone charger are coming to an end, and more and more people are accepting wireless charging technology. It has now been proven that the iPhone can even be charged underwater, using a wireless keyboard and a mobile receiver with waterproof inside. The iPhone 5 handset and a receiver are sealed in the housing and placed in a liquid barrel with a wireless charging pad. Bavan Palasanthiran, the founder of British wireless charging specialist FoneSalesman, headquartered in Haro, demonstrated that the company's IQI mobile receiver can be used in a sealed enclosure.
The receiver is only half a millimeter thick and can be used with any wireless keyboard. It requires two coils, one transmitter and one receiver. AC current passes through the transmitter coil and generates a magnetic field that can be used to drive the mobile device or to charge the battery. Mr. Palasanthiran said: "The technology will be increasingly perfect, but we are still in the first stage." He predicted that we will be able to wirelessly charge our smart phones over a further distance in the next 10 years.
