Chicago FD treats multiple patients during Stanley Cup celebration

This is from Asher Heimermann:

Out of the two million people who attended the Blackhawks parade in Chicago, the Chicago Fire Department treated 41 patients—mostly for heat-related issues—along or near the parade route, according to CFD Media Affairs.

The medical response was well-organized. A medical bus, designated as 8-8-12, was stationed at Michigan and Adams Streets, while fire engines were positioned along Michigan Avenue and Congress Plaza. Paramedics made use of bicycles and UTVs to navigate through the crowds more efficiently.

As temperatures soared during the celebration, the city's emergency services were on high alert. The use of alternative transportation like bikes and ATVs allowed paramedics to reach those in need quickly, even in the densest parts of the crowd. The scene highlighted not only the scale of the event but also the preparedness of local first responders. It’s a reminder of how important it is to stay hydrated and take precautions during large public gatherings in hot weather.
