Anbang builds 20,000 tons of epichlorohydrin plant

Jiangsu Anbang Electrochemical Co., Ltd. is leveraging its abundant chlorine gas resources and has announced a significant investment of 260 million yuan to establish a new 20,000 tons per year epichlorohydrin production facility. The project received approval from the Jiangsu Provincial Environmental Engineering Consultation Center earlier this year, and construction officially began on May 18. It is expected to be completed and start operations in June next year. Epichlorohydrin is a key organic chemical raw material with extensive applications, particularly in the production of epoxy resins in China. Currently, domestic supply meets only about 50% of the country's demand, creating a tight market situation. Based on thorough market research, Anbang decided to invest in this project to meet growing demand and strengthen its position in the industry. According to experts from the China Epoxy Resin Industry Association, there are currently only three major epichlorohydrin production units in China: Qilu Petrochemical’s 30,000 tons/year plant, Tianjin Chemicals’ 28,000 tons/year facility, and Baling Petrochemical’s 24,000 tons/year unit. With the completion of Anbang’s new plant, it is expected to help stabilize and potentially lower the high prices of epichlorohydrin in the domestic market. The project will utilize advanced and proven domestic technology, ensuring stable and reliable operation, which will guarantee product quality. The facility is designed to maximize resource efficiency and minimize environmental impact. All wastewater will be treated through the company’s sewage treatment system, while exhaust gases will be directed into a centralized venting system, preventing any adverse effects on the environment. Once operational, the project is projected to boost the company’s annual revenue by 400 million yuan and increase profits and taxes by 100 million yuan. Additionally, it will help Anbang Electrochemical develop a complete chlor-alkali-chlorine-chloropropene-epichlorohydrin product chain, marking a crucial step in its transition from basic raw material processing to more refined and value-added production.
