Modified polyurethane elastomer sand pump over-current components on the application

The successful application of modified polyurethanes in overcurrent components of sand pumps—such as slurry and mud pumps—is closely tied to their exceptional wear and cavitation resistance. By using this material, not only is the consumption of costly metal resources reduced, but worn parts can also be recycled, maximizing cost efficiency. This approach aligns perfectly with the current global push toward building a conservation-oriented society. Knight has conducted extensive research and experiments under various conditions and equipment setups, leading to several significant achievements: 1. The 4-inch mud pump used for pumping sand and silt originally had an impeller lifespan of 75–120 hours. After replacing it with a modified polyurethane elastomer impeller, the service life increased to 720 hours—6–10 times longer than before. 2. In a thermal power plant, a 48Sh-22 pump experienced severe cavitation at the inlet. After applying a modified polyurethane coating, the surface remained intact after 5,000 hours of operation, while epoxy and nylon coatings had already failed. 3. A 6/4D Warman pump used for transporting gold tailings typically had spare parts that lasted about 30 days. With the use of modified urethane elastomer components, the lifespan tripled. 4. A 2-inch iron ore slurry pump’s shell cover had a service life of less than a month. After being processed with modified polyurethane elastomer, its lifespan extended to up to three months. 5. A steel-plastic composite modified polyurethane wear ring on a pump outer casing saw its service life increase from less than 300 hours to 5,000 hours. Throughout the development journey, Knight has continuously aimed to enhance the wear resistance of modified polyurethanes. Over the past three years, researchers have focused on developing a new generation of advanced materials, refining the manufacturing process, and successfully testing them in turbines. This project is nearing completion, and soon, this high-performance material will significantly extend the lifespan of sand pump overcurrent components, offering users even greater economic benefits.
