Downhole motor

Downhole Motor

The downhole motor is a type of volumetric power tool used in drilling operations, powered by the flow of drilling fluid. It converts the pressure energy of the fluid into mechanical rotational energy. As the mud is pumped from the surface through the bypass valve and into the motor, it flows through the stator and rotor assembly, causing the motor to rotate. This rotation is then transferred to the drill bit via the drive shaft and universal joint, enabling efficient downhole drilling operations.

Product Details
Our downhole motors are available in a wide range of sizes and configurations to meet various drilling needs. Based on specific customer requirements such as torque, displacement, and well temperature, we offer customized solutions designed for optimal performance in different environments.

Uniform Thickness Design
We have optimized the stator shell design to ensure a thin and uniform elastomer layer. This design leads to shorter motor length, higher power output, greater pressure drop, lower rotational speed, better cooling efficiency, and more even thermal expansion. These features make our motors ideal for use in ultra-deep wells, directional wells, and high-temperature applications, where they can extend service life and improve drilling efficiency.

High-Temperature Oil-Based Mud Compatibility
These motors are specifically engineered for high-temperature environments and oil-based mud systems. The stator elastomer is formulated to maintain its mechanical properties, including tensile and tear strength, even under temperatures below 180°C and high oil content. The oil-resistant elastomer with appropriate interference ensures excellent performance in challenging conditions.

Corrosion Resistance
The rotor is coated with an anti-corrosive layer that provides strong resistance to corrosion, erosion, and wear. This makes the motor suitable for long-term operation in corrosive drilling fluids, ensuring reliable performance in harsh environments.

Air Drilling Applications
Air drilling is an effective method that helps protect reservoirs, increases drilling speed, reduces drilling time, and prevents issues like mud loss and wellbore instability. Air drilling motors are powered by gas or foam, which are compressible fluids that drive the motor and rotate the drill bit. These motors require advanced design and precise manufacturing to ensure reliable performance in air drilling conditions.
