While this technique is widely adopted in several European countries, it is still in the early stages of research and application in China.
Ferritic rolling involves a lower temperature during the finishing mill stage compared to conventional rolling methods. This results in a softer microstructure and reduced mechanical strength, which meets specific user requirements, especially for applications where formability and ductility are key factors.
To meet the unique demands of ferritic rolling, Benxi Steel has meticulously controlled the carbon content of molten steel during the steelmaking process. In the hot rolling phase, Bengang's technical team conducted extensive research using domestic technical data and leveraged the advantages of Benxi Steel’s thin slab continuous casting and rolling mill. Through in-depth analysis, they determined an optimal steel composition and rolling process, successfully mastering critical parameters such as rolling temperature, final rolling temperature, and coiling temperature.
Today, the independently developed ferritic rolling process by Benxi Steel has become increasingly refined and mature, with stable production capabilities. This advancement not only strengthens the company's technological competitiveness but also opens new possibilities for meeting diverse market needs in the steel industry.
