On May 12th, Tangshan Iron and Steel re-launched its new product development — 27TQ automotive structural steel successfully passed testing at the No. 1 Hot Rolling Mill. The first batch of 2000 tons of 8×1500mm hot-rolled coils underwent rigorous evaluation on mechanical properties, surface quality, and overall performance. All dimensions met the technical specifications perfectly, with a 100% steel hit rate and pass rate. The products are expected to be delivered to customers soon. This marks another successful market entry for the company this year, following the recent launch of automobile beam steel and oil casing steel.
27TQ automotive structural steel is primarily used in the production of brake pad carriers for vehicles. As a critical component in the automotive manufacturing process, it requires high standards in tensile strength, hardness, wear resistance, and formability. To accelerate the market introduction of this steel grade, Tangshan Iron and Steel’s technical team conducted extensive field visits to automotive manufacturers in Guangdong, Hubei, and Hebei. Through numerous discussions and exchanges with end-users, the product was tailored to meet real-world requirements, ensuring accurate market positioning.
Given the complexity of smelting and rolling for this particular steel grade, as well as the stringent technical demands, Tangshan Iron and Steel optimized the entire production chain, from smelting and continuous casting to rolling. Strict operational guidelines were established at every stage. To ensure a smooth trial run, the company organized dedicated teams, focusing on key areas such as chemical composition control, molten steel pretreatment, converter operations, LF refining, continuous casting, and rolling processes. Technical experts provided on-site support, addressing any emerging issues promptly, which ultimately contributed to the successful development of the new product.
