2-Alarm fire in Elmwood Park, 09-30-18

Elmwood Park 2-alarm fire occurred on September 30, 2018, at 7840 North Avenue.

Here's a firsthand account from Steve Redick:

I captured a few photos from the Elmwood Park 2-alarm fire. From where I was standing, there wasn’t much to see, but it sounded like there was a significant fire inside the building, possibly in hidden or concealed areas. I could hear the sound of saws working on the roof for quite some time, which made me think that firefighters were trying to ventilate or access the fire from above.

The images shared by Steve give a glimpse into the intensity of the situation. Firefighters were clearly working hard, with multiple units responding to what turned out to be a serious fire. It’s always sobering to see such scenes, and it reminds us of the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect others.
